You can download a wallpaper version of the shot in iPhone ratio from the attachment :) Adjusting the composition is made so easy because everything's in vector shapes and pretty much feels like doing 'responsive' design.
Process
Designing in pixel preview mode and turning off the anti-aliasing in the export panel. Colour adjustment with Adobe Photoshop.
The dithering was done automatically with the Save for Web functionality in Photoshop.
It turns out that it's quite a pleasure to create pixel art with Illustrator, especially when you are equipped with global colours, shapes and vector-based resizing abilities that would be very difficult to achieve with photoshop.
Next time will push the boundaries a bit more with a much more detailed illustration :)
