Adding a figure to a book cover

I've been working on a historical Dutch chapter book on and off for the past six months, and after getting feedback from some different bookshops, my publisher and I decided to use one of the interior illustrations on the cover to make the book more intriguing. Only thing was - we needed to add a pirate. So here's a detail of the revised image. Hard to imagine it without him in it, now!
