038/100: Queen Liliuokalani

Liliuokalani was the last reigning monarch of Hawaii. She reigned until the overthrow of the Kingdom of Hawaii. She led uprisings to try and prevent Hawaii from being annexed by the US. Eventually US forces overcame them and they became part of the US in 1893. Liliuokalani lived out the rest of her life as a private citizen, an author and a composer. Also, I will be visiting her native island of Oahu again this fall!! So incredibly psyched.
