Decay (pt. 5)

This project was inspired in part by my recent trip to the Cairo Museum. Wandering through rooms full of ancient artifacts, most only partially in tact, brought two realizations: First, that decay and ruin can be beautiful; and second, that you don't have to give your viewers everything in an art piece. When you only give people half an object, it forces them to fill in the rest themselves. I connected these ideas to storytelling and got to work on a series that could express them. This five piece series is meant to tell a story. It is as if the viewer has stumbled on a cabin in the woods and has decided to explore it. Each piece below is a piece to the story, a piece of something that happened a long time ago. What happened is up to the viewer. I don't even know what happened myself. I invite you to look through these pieces with this preface in mind so that you can have the full experience.
