Slender Spreadwing

I live near a stream and some marshy ponds, and I often see dragonflies & similar insects buzzing about- always fun to watch! In researching & IDing a specific native species to draw for my series, I realized that the one I'd photographed recently was actually a damselfly though, not a dragonfly! Turns out the difference (well, the easy one) is that dragonflies hold their wings apart when at rest (like an airplane), and damselflies fold them back & together.

So! A slender spreadwing damselfly! Lestes rectangularis.
