This Day In History - June 8, 1959

The US Postal Office (in conjunction with the US Navy) sends 3000 pieces of mail packed in a missile launched from a submarine off the coast of Virginia to Mayport, Florida. The mail travels the distance in 22 minutes. It is widely believed to be a very thinly veiled demonstration of the United States' missile prowess during the Cold War.
