1. In 1920, the celebration of the victory ended in a brawl between the players of the Ottawa Senators, and the Stanley Cup lay all night in the drain ditch.

2. Clark Gillies of the New York Islanders filled the Cup with dog food and let his dog eat out of it.

3. Following their 1991 victory over the Minnesota North Stars, Pittsburgh Penguins legend Mario Lemieux hosted the team at his house. When Lemieux wasn’t looking, Penguins winger Phil Bourque decided he wanted to see if the Cup could float—and threw the trophy into the captain’s in-ground pool. It didn’t float, and immediately sank to the bottom (thankfully, it was recovered unharmed).

4.Two babies have been baptized in the Cup. The first was Sylvain Lefebvre’s daughter, who was baptised after the Colorado Avalanche won in 1996. The second was Tomas Holmström’s niece. The Detroit forward allowed his cousin to baptize his seven-week-old daughter in the bowl when the Red Wings won in 2008.

5. In 2003, Martin Brodeur took the Stanley Cup with him to the movies and ate popcorn out of the bowl. As a result, the Cup had butter stains and salt damage for the following 8 days before fellow New Jersey Devil Jamie Langenbrunner cleaned it.
