Type Hike: Padre Island National Seashore

This is the final product of what I’ve been working on for Type Hike. The guys who run @typehike are incredible, genuine folks who are running an incredible gig with Type Hike and it was a pleasure to work with them on this project. My goal with this poster was to tell the hidden story of Texas surfing while paying homage to the unique cultural blend the Third Coast is known for: a laid-back beach vibe blended with a spicy and lively Hispanic culture. Truly, it is the epitome of “tex-mex” down here. With that, I sought to create a simple, tex-mex themed, surf-fiesta vibe poster to celebrate this wonderful state, coast, and culture, making it feel like a hot day on the beach in Corpus Christi. Each part of this poster (except for the copy at the very bottom) was hand-carved, block-printed, and then scanned in in order to get authentic shape and texture at every possible moment. For a full write-up and to see all the other posters for Type Hike’s ‘Shores’ series, just go to www.typehike.com.
