The Tjindgarmi Shield Logo Reflecting Life in the Torres Strait

A once in a lifetime project. We worked directly with JHerro, an Australian Indigenous artist, Officemax Australia and Ronald Paredes to create a shield comprised of traditional elements found in the culture of Torres Strait islanders. To be incorporated in the shield were elements of octopus tentacles, sharks, oyster shells, fish, fish scales and flat tidal fish traps. The Tjindgarmi Shield would be used as a logo mark and then later broken apart to create a line of product packaging that mimicked the sea life around the islands. The product line was used to help fund a subsequent project that served to protect Australian Indigenous art and culture, thus the symbolism behind the creation of a shield.
