Another leadoff home run by Mookie Betts, the tenth of his career, set the tone for the first of two interleague games in St. Louis. Despite an impressive 21-15 record coming into the game, the Cardinals had a tough night in the field, committing three errors and giving up two home runs. Sox starter Eduardo Rodríguez threw six quality innings, allowing only three runs and striking out five batters.
