Yadagiri or Yetagiri was part of the empire of the Western Chalukyas from the 10th to 12th centuries CE. The name ‘Yadgir’ is derived from its early medieval rulers, the 'Yadavas'.Yadgir Fort is strong and are built over rocky hills and multiple levels. The Yadgir Fort is built over a massive monolith rock measuring about 850m long, 500m wide and 100m high.
