Biology Symbol (~2013)
In 2013 I had the sudden opportunity to teach 9th grade biology at the little private high school I went to in my hometown. Their intended teaching had become unavailable a week before school.
I had always wanted to learn more biology and so I brazenly jumped in.
I brought a lot of myself as a designer into myself as a teacher both to improve my skills but also because it was delightful and a nice change of pace from tech design.
With no budget, little time, and restless 'clients' my approach to design was much different. I worked fast and loose.
This is a little symbol I made to represent biology, a simplified representation of a cell.
This color, along with the Ubuntu font because the basis for a kind of visual identity for my class that I built upon and expanded over the next two years that I taught.
