I just shot the Moon with my iPod Touch 5 through telescope. The Moon is bloody red today and skies look like in summer. I also saw geese are coming back, so i think summer is pretty close to us. Now it's -2 outside and it was freakin cold when i rushed to the balcony in only underwear to shoot this. And you know it's tricky stuff to shoot anything freelensing with a telescope, so it takes time.

The calligraphy is handwritten obviously. This is fifth or sixth try as far as i remember. I definitely have to buy some better brushes. Do you know what brushes are the best for drawing Kanji?

The word for today is 望遠鏡, japanese for 'telescope' which is a compound Kanji word. You can see three kanji in this word, and one of them is already familiar to us — 鏡 — Mirror
One of the meanings of the first Kanji 望 is 'fool moon' or ambition, desire. The second Kanji 遠 means 'distant' or 'far'. And the third Kanji we already know that is a mirror. So these three gives us a Telescope. Pretty logic, isn't it?

日本語: 望遠鏡 (Bōenkyō)
