Emblematics

Emblematics is an art show consisting of 18 artists creating designs created into patches. Each design was created with a story or experience in mind, translating that life event into a physical piece.

This is my design, based on my personal journey as a young child dealing both with depression (the snake) and abuse (the flail). The patch itself is meant to be a badge of endurance, showing that even through what felt like horrifying experiences as a child, I persevered and I know what has made me the person I am today. It's quite rare that I dive so personally into life experiences with my work, but I know many folks can relate to such experiences, so I felt it was worth opening up to let others know we all come from different places and that no one has lived a perfect life.
