Better late than never right?! Over the last month my life has been FULL to say the least. Full of exciting new client work at Magnetic. Full of family & friends, and this project kept getting pushed to the back of that line which was a little discouraging at times. I put a lot of pressure on myself to deliver on time and to the high standards I set personally.
I found myself stressing to just get it done and put it out in the wild, and for a short period of time I lost track of why I wanted to take this project on in the first place. This is meant to be a freeing, fun design exploration process for me personally and it was turning into just another job in my head.
Then I came across an Instagram post that brought me back down to earth. @Dann Petty posted a pic of himself lounging in a jacuzzi pool with his laptop. The caption read that he was supposed to launch a site that day that he's been working on for over a year, instead he was taking a work-vacation to maintain his work / life balance. That's all I needed to see to remind me that its ok to take a little break to decompress from a heavy work schedule sometimes.
At the end of the day this is a project for me, not a client, and it's not the end of the world if I miss my own deadline by a couple days.... or a month haha. I took some downtime to relax & focus on my life outside of work when I was at a complete standstill trying to finish this one. When I did have some time to jump back into it I felt refreshed and the rest of the site came together pretty quickly one night after a couple PBR's, it was relaxing & exciting again.
