Product Prompt #3 on Product Disrupt Blog

How often do we hear candidates not being hired because they weren’t a culture-fit to the employer they had applied for? Well, I don’t know the exact number, but can assure you that the number is pretty balanced.

In my limited experience of employee-employer conversation, I’ve seen it quite evidently how companies value for culture-fit while hiring an outsider to join their team. Hard skills are a must for sure, but those can be developed over the time and the process is quite standard. But when it comes to culture or soft skills, it’s something that is ingrained in an individual for years and takes considerably more time and efforts to change, for good.

@Tobias van Schneider ▲▲▲ ’s recent series of articles called “How to get a job at X” only makes it clear that how much these promising design-led companies like @Spotify , @MailChimp , Airbnb , @MetaLab , etc. value culture while building their teams.

I reached out to few folks who’ve been working in close-knit teams for quite some years, to understand the value culture has played in their teams, and this is what they had to say about their experience.
