Script sketches

1 of about 50+ sheets of sketches for a new hand writing script typeface in the works for a large rebrand. Lots of handwork to get a good flow and style that feels natural, elegant and friendly. The notes between the lines are some of my thoughts in working with letter combinations. Thinking also about a natural flow of connecting characters versus words that are semi-connected. Doing so much of this work up front by hand gives a good start in thinking about programming contextual alternates and ligatures, while allowing the decisions to feel natural, coming from a handwritten foundation.
