There was a surge, then the fall. The season has ended for the CBJ, but what a heck of a team.

The Penguins scored during the first period on a Power Play and put 2 more in before 4 minutes had expired in the second. The Jackets’ didn’t give up though. They came back and scored 2 of their own before the period ended, bringing the Pen’s lead down to 1.

Then there was the moment in the third where a series of unfortunate events resulted in the CBJ having their goal waved off, the Penguins scoring 2 more goals in the next 60 seconds, and the Jackets watching their 2017 Stanley Cup chance fade away.

Thus, the hockey season has come to an end for the Columbus Blue Jackets, but this year has been far from a failure in my eyes. Yes, we lost our series in the first round, and yes the final dozen games we played weren’t our best. But our regular season was something to remember. We won 16 games in a row. Had a franchise record for the most wins and points in a single season. Found our groove with a slew of young talent. And really gave Columbus something to talk about besides OSU.
