Virus Model Reduction
I've mentioned before, but we're starting to do more VR stuff at work. We've been gearing up on Unity... but one of the snags with using models in video VS in a game engine, is that polygon count matters.
I've been studying up on ways to take high polygon models, shrink them down in size, while keeping the textures at a decent quality... and, you know, still applied where they should be. That last one has been trickier than I thought.
Still, I threw this test together, taking a free model from Turbosquid (https://www.turbosquid.com/3d-models/hiv-virus-obj-free/764845) and trying to reduce it down and keep the texture quality up...
I'm decently happy with the results! From a distance, the loss of quality isn't too bad... still need to keep experimenting though! :)
