April 17 - Boston Marathon

I'd seen the photo on the left a few times - of Kathrine Switzer running the Boston Marathon in 1967 and evading the event's organizer, who attempted to hustle her off the course because the event was for men only at the time. Deservedly so, she became a feminist sports icon and has since competed in and won numerous events and written books. I learned today that Switzer ran the marathon again today, fifty years later at the age of seventy. I think that's pretty neat.

In 2017, I'm (trying) making a gameday graphic every day, for a sporting event happening that day. This is #107.
