I took this photo outside of a gorgeous temple in Thailand. If you ever get a chance to visit this beautiful country, please don't ride these beautiful creatures. The ugly truth is that most elephants used for tourism and entertainment are mistreated. They are taken away from their mothers at a young age and receive abusive ways of taming.

But despite all this, there is hope in knowing that certain organizations in SEA (particularly Thailand!) have set up sanctuaries for rescued elephants. A quick google image search of elephant sanctuaries would show happy, peaceful, and free elephants. Support the cause and stop the abuse. 🐘
