Same-sex marriage
On April 1, in 2001, the first legal same-sex marriage ceremony took place in the Netherlands. Back then, when we were still a progressive country, Job Cohen, the mayor of Amsterdam, was the first public law official to wed two people of the same sex. A litte celebration, but also a reminder that is has ONLY been 16 years.
