Home Coming

This is an illustration from the workbook Reconnecting Families. Fairfax County Public Schools was involved in a program to help reunite families who have been separated due to immigration.

Many times, either the mother or father will be the first to leave and begin a new life in the US. It often takes that family member 5-7 years to get established in a new area, after which they will send for the rest of the family.

This can create problems, as children left behind feel neglected and unloved. Some may wonder who their parents are after being separated from them the majority of their life.

The program and workbook help bridge the process of reconnecting families and healing the wounds of separation.
