Trek // Trekbikes.com Design Foundation

Over the past six months we've been working on a developing a new design language for Trekbikes.com. We wanted to build a system that allows our designers and developers to share a common language. This sets us up for success to iterate quickly as we move forward with our new vision.

On the surface this sounds straight forward, but with a multi-lingual e-commerce site, with thousands of pages and a large number of components, plus adding in code that your team didn't write, this gets complicated pretty quickly. Our first step was mapping out all of the current styles on the website and where they are used. We then started laying the ground work for a new style guide built out in Invision for designers and in css for our front end teams.

Now with a common visual language between developers and designers, we can iterate quickly on new projects. We're at the ground floor of this project, but it's an exciting first step.

There's a ton of work on this that I can't quite share yet, but more to come!
