UkuuPeople Homepage Redesign and Site Refresh
They say you have to design and code separately.
That's what I've always heard.
But lately, when I design a page in proto.io, it feels a bit cumbersome. I'm thinking of the css in my head, and if it doesn't work, I make adjustments. All the media queries and all the margins. So with the latest refresh of the UkuuPeople homepage (getting ready for a rollout of awesome new integrations, including my favorite, google apps), I just sat down and designed with the tools that will be used in the final build anyway, #css and #php. I found it refreshing, time-saving, and inspiring. I didn't get bored coding because I was creating at the same time. And the design was stronger, gaining that strength from simplicity and years of study. The best part was that it was almost effortlessly fluid on all devices. (Every time I build I strive for fewer media queries). It reminded me of a talk I once heard at WordCamp about css being your paintbrush, so use it.
I loved this experience and will definitely want to repeat it.
