Here's a quick update on a project I'm currently working on. It's a cohesive point of sale app for iPhone/iPad, targeted at food retail stores and restaurants/cafes/bars etc.

Take a look at the attachments for some details on basic features and a closer look at some other screens in the app. I have also attached a big version of the shot for you to look at.

After using a few iPad Point of Sale apps (both paid and free) I have noticed that there doesn't seem to be a clear winner in the market and all of the apps I have used are lacking some features that I would have expected to see.

The most widely used POS apps in the UK appear to be iZettle and Paypal Here. I guess the problems with these apps arise due to the fact that the companies that developed them are primarily payment processors and are more concerned about their payment services and card readers than providing a first class app.

There are an abundance of other options on the market however, none of them appear to be that great. Those that have sufficient features are lacking in a well designed and intuitive interface/ experience, where as the few that are well designed lack necessary functionality.
