AIGA Frontier Map/Poster

AIGA Frontier Conference Poster is an ambitious project set to do two things. The first to capture a "visual vernacular" of a certain era or time period, and to serve as a poster design for the AIGA Graphic Design Conference in Bozeman MT.

The choosen vernacular is the 1940's-50's two color road maps that were widely distributed at the time. The illustrations throughout the piece are hand drawn then scanned in to highlight the featured lecturers. All of the type in red was hand lettered, and the map portion was created in order to reference back to the retro road maps of the 50's.

The poster is inspired by the adventurous spirit of John Bozeman, an early settler in MT. Bozeman founded the Bozeman Trail and the town of Bozeman a popular cutoff from the Oregon Trail during the Gold Rush in 1862.
