The information Age #4
Inspired by John McLaughlin's paintings on a recent trip to LACMA, I noticed a similarity between the work he produced between the 40's and 70's and contemporary UI/UX design.
Bored with current product design tactics and dismayed by what I initially perceived as homogeneity across tech culture and modern digital design I decided to see if I could mimic McLaughlin's work by breaking down found interfaces using colors pulled from Nigel Evan Dennis' color experiment.
I realized, while working on this experiment, how much I'm a part of my own design echo-chamber as I have the luxury of choosing what I engage with and am attracted to. It might just be that my boredom with what I'm used to has inspired me to try and see things differently.
