Scroll tabs

Why isn't scrolling tabs a thing?

At the moment the general approach is, if you have more tabs, than fits the screen, the last tab acts as a more submenu, where the rest of the tabs are located.

So wouldn't scrolling be a better option?

This works well in nav bar (for ex. YouTube, Twitter) so why wouldn't it work in tab bar?
