2017 Calendar: Origins

I am happy to share my new calendar designs for 2017! What started out as a personal project of mine became a really exciting experience to share with friends and family. I will be posting the designs over the next 12 weekdays.

I called this year's theme 'Origins' for various reasons...from the way I began the geometries of the composition, to using old photos to celebrate the past…to using one of my favourite forms of art (collages)—my method has evolved so much over time, but the work is still silly and playful as I have always intended them to be. ‘Origins’ is a tribute to the past.

Future Portrait is a name I have taken on to represent my personal projects. I am just realizing now that while the calendar is a tribute to the past, I have chosen the name Future Portrait to celebrate the opposite! I like the idea of looking at one's self as ever changing...abandoning past and present, always looking at your 'future portrait.'
