404 Web Page Not Found
Here's my entry for day 8 of the Daily UI challenge, a 404 page.
A lot of people use their illustration skills and creativity to come up with some truly beautiful 404 pages, but many lack (in my opinion) the most important feature of a 404 page. Namely help to the confused user.
I decided to go with a far clearer and user friendly solution, such as to aid whichever unlucky soul pressed an old link or mistyped a URL.
In addition to providing quick links to the homepage and to search the site, it also allows users to quickly search Google for the URL or to contact us regarding an issue.
It also uses machine learning to provide suggestions for where the user most likely wanted to go, be it due to a simple typo in the URL or that a page has been moved.
After figuring out the initial layout, I must admit I spent most my time designing the Safari toolbar and window. Positions and sizes are pixel perfect based on my own computer, and the colors match exactly those used.
Please let me know if you'd be interested in the Sketch file for the Safari window, I could upload it as a freebie if people are interested.
