Mag style

Dribbble, help please! My client would prefer a magazine/fashion blog style like this than the kind of site I'd immediately design, and I'm trying to find a neat and clean way to deliver that without looking literally like all the other fashion blog sites everywhere. I'm not happy with this as it is. I need a happy medium that's good design that will also pass the requirements... some help would be very much appreciated! :)
