John Lewis Quote.
I know I'm not alone in feeling anxious and afraid about today's inauguration. But it's more important now than ever to speak up loudly, to act with conviction and kindness, and to hold our leaders accountable.
We cannot be afraid to speak out against the hatred and misinformation spread by the incoming president. Words are not just words, especially when the person speaking has the power to enact them into policy. Jokes are not just jokes when laughing off sexual assault or mocking disability. And vile discrimination has no place in our homes, in our lives, in the White House.
Empowering though it absolutely is to see so many peers and politicians speak up about the problems our nation is facing, we still have tremendous work to do, and we cannot afford to become complacent. Stay safe out there this weekend, be kind to one another and raise hell.
Quote from Congressman and Civil Rights veteran John Lewis.
