Some of my thoughts on how I would go about a redesign of Facebook are shown here.
How I went about this project
First I thought about what I would most of all like to see when I log into Facebook, which are:
1. trending videos with the option of trending article, news report, or blog post.
2. My news feed filtered by:
A. Friends
B. Groups
C. Pages
3. Adjustable favorites whether groups, pages, games, saved videos, etc.
4. Reading digest filtered by Area: News, videos on News (mainly articles to read). with:
The capability to save, share, and send.
3. Messages with the most recent conversations up top, most talked to people, and an option to call(video and audio) and select contact afterwards.

I think that allowing information to be hidden and opened is a great key to organization and great user experience.
