Amazon Sort Dropdown Idea

Why doesn't this exist? (pt. 2)

----

During a product search on Amazon (or most major ecommerce sites), sorting products by "Avg Customer Review" is a good way to hone in on the highest quality products. The problem, however, is Amazon doesn't put a minimum cap on the number of reviews a product must have before it qualifies to have its star rating viewable to the public.

Many times, this can lead to search results that push products with minimal (potentially biased or outdated) reviews but a five-star average to the top of the list. This can lead to skepticism - would you trust a product with an average of five stars that has been reviewed by five people, or a product with an average of 4.5 stars that has been reviewed by 1,000 people?

More reviews means the product can be more honestly vouched for. Combine that metric with the highest average review score, and the most reputable products will be pushed to the top of the list.
