Introducing Captain's Log
I'm excited to announce Captain's Log (http://captainslog.site/), a website for stream of consciousness journaling.
The tl;dr:
• It's not a social network. Your posts are for you.
• There's no backspace or spellcheck. The goal isn't to write the perfect paragraph. It's to write whatever comes to you and move on.

I started working on this a couple of months ago as a way to encourage myself to write more. A blog was too public and I knew that I wouldn't actually write in a physical journal.
While I was thinking through all of this, I heard an episode of This American Life called Captain's Log. In the description of that episode there was a line that said, "A captain’s log is a simple thing: the date, the time, maybe the weather — and the current status of a long journey."
I was drawn to that and it captures what I wanted to try and build. A "status" might mean something different to everyone. Maybe it's your current mood, random thoughts in your head, or progress towards a goal.
To help make this a little more like writing, I decided to remove the backspace key (there are ways around it if you get creative). This can feel a little surprising while you are typing, but after using it for a few weeks I've enjoyed the reminder that everything doesn't have to be perfect.
If you give it a try, please let me know what you think.
