Holiday Card for a Cause
This year I was tasked with designing my company's holiday card. I wanted to use the card to give back to our community so I came up with the idea to have a card illustrated by students from a school in the area and to include their story and a link to raise funds for their school. We worked with MNIC, a school in the twin cities where a large population of students utilize the school's Free Store. There, they can pick up hygiene and clothing items as needed. Many of the school's students live in poverty, some are even homeless, so we thought stocking this "store" would be a great place for the money to go. We set a goal of raising $1500 and are halfway to the goal! If you would like to help, please visit GoFundMe.com/MNIC-FreeStore.
I also got to speak to this group of students about what I do as a designer. It was so cool to introduce them to a career where they could use their creative skills and passions. I answered their questions and they started sketching their letters. I loved seeing the students collaborate with each other to think of ideas and perfect their sketches. These students put a lot of effort into their designs and are excited for everyone to see them!
