Canada's Postnationalism
I recently worked on such a fascinating and timely piece for the Guardian entitled, "The Canada Experiment: is this the World's First 'Postnational' Country?"
“The greater Toronto area is now the most diverse city on the planet, with half its residents born outside the country; Vancouver, Calgary, Ottawa and Montreal aren’t far behind. Annual immigration accounts for roughly 1% of the country’s current population of 36 million.”
"Canada’s incomplete identity is, in this sense, a positive, a spur to move forward without spilling blood, to keep thinking and evolving – perhaps, in the end, simply to respond to newness without fear." - Charles Foran
Nice to read something hopeful lately in the era of fear and especially proud that it’s about my home country. More pics on http://jacquioakley.com/?portfolio=canadas-postnationlism-the-guardian and the whole article can be found on https://www.theguardian.com/world/2017/jan/04/the-canada-experiment-is-this-the-worlds-first-postnational-country. It's a great read.
