Blue Jackets Score: December 9, 2016
Game 25 / Check out the whole project here
There are certain reasons why I named by dog after the Jackets' goalie Sergei Bobrovsky (Look at this adorable puppy.) and one of them is because he knows when to stay in the crease and when to play it forward. The first goal of the night happened when Bob quickly kicked it down the ice to Atkinson (on a Detroit PP mind you) who scored on a short hand. However, the most interesting goal of the night actually happened after the Red Wings tied it up at the beginning of the second. At 1-1 the puck rebounded off Wings' goalie Mrazek and he skated out to covered the puck halfway to the faceoff dot. Here's the thing: you can't cover the puck that far from the crease, so there was no stoppage of play. In fact, if Mrazek wouldn't have played the puck it would be a penalty. So M let go and rushed back to the net only to find CBJ's Dubinsky waiting and ready to score the second Jackets goal of the night. About 5 mins later Lukas Sedlak got the moment he has been waiting for since the beginning of the season: his first NHL goal. With that, the Wings immediately pulled Mrazek from the goal and put in recently injured Jimmy Howard for the rest of the game. Although he didn't allow any goals past him, the Jackets did score in the last 14 seconds of the game when Gagner put in an empty netter. Call it 4-1 Jackets.
Game Highlights:
-CBJ has scored first 18 of the first 25 games
-Captain Foligno unexpectedly stayed In Cbus (day to day) with some sort of sickness, so Oliver Bjorkstrand got called up to replace him
-This is the first time in 10 games the Blue Jackets have been outshot
-The Jackets now have a record of 5-1-1 for their last 7 games at the Joe
