Birmingham Smithfield markets have played a significant role in the city history. To empower its presence, the City Council launched a campaign to highlight the importance and fast changing outlook of the area.
Our mission was to propose a new identity and visual language for the markets. After visiting and feeling its spirit, we decided to go to the basics, back to the history, so we started looking into what made the city great. We realized that the traditions of the hard working people are what has always moved the city forward. In the founders of the market town of Birmingham (back, almost a millennium ago), the De Birmingham family is where we found the key identity elements that we believe would make the area stand out again.
Though the project remained on the drawing board, we left passionate about our work and looking forward to the next one.
