History of Leadership - The Factory Boss

Part of an effort to revise and expand NationBuilder.com’s “Vision” section, the History of Leadership page was just begging for some illustrations to highlight the various iterations of leadership through time.

This illustration of the factory boss, a man with a top hat yelling at assembly line workers below him, is a reference to the changes in leadership that occurred during the industrial revolution, specifically the emergence of middle-management, and the fundamental shift that leaders are no longer born, but made.
