Deaf Missions Branding
When Deaf Missions approached us to redesign their decades-old logo, they had a very unique dilemma. Their original design featured the face of Jesus hidden inside the contours of a human ear. As strange as that sounds – it was actually handled pretty tastefully, and wasn't necessarily a "bad" design. However, in meeting with the DM team, we discovered the obvious: Deaf people don't connect with the ear! Hearing people associate ears with deafness – but members of the deaf community are all about HANDS and faces! With this in mind, we ended up with a simple mark derived from the letters "dm" in sign-language. The brand has gone over even better than we could have hoped in their target audience – and we have seen them run with this mark and the accompanying brand book, in a way that we haven't seen with other clients! We're very proud of this solution – and our friends at Deaf Missions that helped us along the way.
