Neomy - creation of an avatar

An awesome opportunity appeared a few months ago: Joining a coworking and coliving experience here in Lisbon; named Destinesia.

The point is simple, I work for some of their projects and can stay for free. By the way, the flat is fantastic with the most beautiful view over the Tajo. And of course, a great team with amazing people.

One of the key projects was to create an avatar for Neomy, an online chat to send you useful alert and insights about money transfers. So, you can speak with Neomy, a smart robot girl who is joyful, fun and very sociable. Of course, she is also an expert in money transfer and shares a huge link with Moneytis, her start-up father.

Giving me a lot of freedom, I started creating mood boards and raising feedback, building an image for Neomy. The first physical feature to be fixed was her hair. Beeing a huge fan of Frozen, she just cannot let go of her braid. Luckily, her cute hairstyle is also great for her job and fits perfectly the shape of her face.

Beeing in front of a computer all day, she had to put some glasses but users said that it was really giving her a serious look!

For me, it was the first time designing an avatar, I am often starting projects by drawing so it was nice spending some time getting back to pen and paper. Focusing on branding and corporate identity has been great so far but I’m glad to take a project that teaches me so much and gives me some time to learn new skills! I wouldn’t mind designing some other characters in the future!
