Raygun (Closeup)

A little history:

During the seventies and early eighties, an arms race was raging. I'm not talking about the Cold War--i'm referring to the consumer raygun market. The same companies churning out the video game consoles of our childhoods were developing blasters, rayguns--whatever you want to call them--for kids like us. Cutthroat competition caused corporations like Atari and Coleco to take greater and greater risks. After a series of accidents culminating in the 1981 Atari factory explosion in Milpitas, CA, governments stepped in, destroyed all assets, and banned further production. So much for innovation. Here is the last raygun developed by Atari: the 2600 LR (Long Range).
