To-do list

I haven't found a to-do list I love so far. I know there are gazillions of to-do list apps in the market, but to me, they are all too complicated and have too many features. All I want is a fast and easy way to add, view and check my tasks. I don't want to create a list first and then add tasks to it. What should I call a list for things like "call my mom"? Often times, to my great frustration, I close the app and turn to pen and paper.

I'm currently learning iOS development myself, hope to build my own to-do list.

Immediacy and simplicity matter here.
