Self Reflection

This painting is part of my series on Jewish identity - "This Is A Part Of Me." I had people submit stories about their experiences regarding the juxtaposition of tradition and modernity in their lives in relation to their Judaism.

Katie's story involved her perception of herself compared to how others saw her. Although she isn't particularly observant, no matter what she did she was always "Katie the Jew" to her friends. "It isn't good, it isn't bad. It's just how they see me. And I guess how I see myself. It's just how it is."
