Apple Maps - CarPlay with Lane Guidance
đź“ŤI think a lot of people would say one of the big reasons they stick with Google Maps is because of the lane guidance feature. Knowing what lane to stay in while driving is amazing. Apple Maps currently does not have that capability, and while driving one day I was wondering if Apple were to add lane guidance how would they present that information?
đź“ŤIn CarPlay, the next direction and high level information about the drive are on the left in the shadow box, and the current location relative to the Map is on the right. In iOS 10, Apple really visually harmonized the current location arrow symbol with the current road you are driving on for more legibility.
đź“ŤGoogle puts the lane guidance information underneath the next direction (http://ausdroid.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/Google-Maps-lane-guidance-02.jpg), but I think keeping separated spaces for next instruction and guidance would be better visually as shown here. Google's mixing of the two in driving scenarios might cause confusion since both are in green spaces.
