JetCityMusic.com
JetCityMusic.com is an online music retailing that specializes in selling boutique effects pedals for guitars. I’ve have been a contract designer for the company since 2010.
These mockups demonstrate a couple of ideas I came up with to help the company expand their business model.
1. JetCity Pedal Club
Customers can join this club for free. It enables them to receive three effects pedals a month in the mail. They would have two weeks to try out the pedals and decide to keep all three, two, one or none. Shipping would be free.
Pedals sent to the customer would be determined by a personal profile filled out by the customer. This profile would include descriptions of their playing style, experience, what they currently own, what they’re looking for, guitar players they admire, etc. Also, a customer could decide to choose one, two or three of the pedals themselves, or decide on a combination of JCM curation and their own selections.
2. Hire a Gear Consultant
For a fee (TBD), a customer could hire a JCM Gear Consultant to help them design their perfect guitar, live sound or studio package. The customer would fill out a personal profile of what it is they’re looking for, in addition to basics like playing style, current gear, guitar sounds they admire, etc.
The customer and JCM Gear Consultant would then correspond via messaging (maybe phone) to refine the gear package for the customer. Once the gear package is ready, it is sent to the customer for a 2-week trial. If the customer is unhappy with any component of the package, it can be returned and replaced with another item or the customer could choose not to purchase it.
