I've been realizing lately that our work as designers is really the sum total of our life experiences. Our work can either come from a place of copying trends and making them our own or trying to find that unique voice and story inside us and illustrate it both literally and figuratively.
In an effort to find and release that voice inside me, I want to share with you little pieces of my life from time to time. Graphic snapshots in this digital scrapbook. Pictures of feeling and mood rather than photorealism.
This is where I live. Twelve miles northeast of downtown Columbus in a suburban post-utopia. Mid-century light commercial edifices now sell weaves and halal food. Split-levels and ranches sag beneath the weight of heavy American years and the persistent march of time and change. A vision of suburban planning that, of course, evolved into something else. And that my friends, is the very essence of creativity.
