Back to essentials or what else do you need to see on this screen?

I liked the new idea of Twitter to use the dark UI when it's necessary. Was thinking of how it may be used in other apps as well. Though I didn't want to make the controls subtle because when you're running in the late evening, for example, you might want to see the pause button clear enough.

So I'm experimenting with this new black and white concept using the unapproved ;( style guides I designed for some project a while ago.
